According to a new study released by Reed Exhibition Companies entitled "United
States of America Packaging Demand Study", U.S. consumers spent over $100
billion on packaging in 1997, of which 17 percent was for beverage containers.
The leader of the pack in the $100 billion packaging industry is food packaging
at $32 billion. Beverage container packaging is second at $17 billion and pharmaceutical/personal
care packaging is third at $11 billion.
