Ontario is at the forefront of Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging with two successful packaging EPR programs: The Beer Store program for alcohol beverage containers and the Blue Box program for residential packaging and printed paper.
Presenters:
Jo-Anne St. Godard, Executive Director of the Recycling Council of Ontario, will discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of Ontario’s EPR program, including the framework’s evolution, financing and governance and lessons learned.
Dan Lantz, Vice President of Operations for Cascades Recovery, will provide valuable EPR insight from various perspectives including collection, MRF operator and brand owner. Dan will describe the many materials that comprise “printed paper and packaging” and will explain how each material type pays its own way in Ontario.
