The Container Recycling Institute (CRI) recently undertook a case study of British Columbia’s container deposit-refund law (CDL) to expand CRI’s existing body of research on best practices for the recovery and quality recycling of packaging materials; and to investigate recent increases in container recycling fees (CRF) in the province, especially for glass containers.

Susan Collins will present CRI’s research on a selected history of container deposit-refund and extended producer responsibility (EPR), overview of BC’s container stewardship program, operations and performance, analyses on away-from-home recycling and litter, culminating with what it all means for the future of BC’s CDL in the age of EPR for packing and printed paper.
