October 6th, 2019 - While most U.S. programs are suffering from acute neglect – resulting in resulting closures of more than 1,300 redemption centers and backsliding redemption rates – outside the U.S., the numbers tell a different story. In January 2017, nearly 300 million people worldwide had access to deposit laws. Since then, 12 new programs have been announced in quick succession, with the largest in India, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Romania. By the time all of these programs are implemented over the next two years, they will cover another 300 million people, doubling the number of individuals covered from just two years ago.

September 10th, 2019 - Upton Sinclair would have a muckraker’s field day with the rotten scraps of failed legislation the grocers lobby packed into two last-minute bills that just appeared Saturday through a process called “gut and amend.” The bills – Senate Bill 634 and Assembly Bill 54 – would release grocery stores and retailers from their legal obligations to recycle.
